Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was a kid she was enrolled in at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma had a dream to become a professional actor when she was just at the age of six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school that offers part-time classes. By the age of ten she had appeared and played part in many Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It also was the film that was most popular in 2001. Its opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record-breaking. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performance by three young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the movie.
